Train line that would reach Guarulhos Airport will be replaced

The project to build the Airport Express, a train line that would connect the center of Sao Paulo Guarulhos International Airport, was replaced by the expansion of a rail line.

According to the project, the passage of the Airport Express would cost R$ 30 and would take the passenger to the International Airport of Guarulhos. The line would be run by private enterprise.

According to the government’s justification of São Paulo, there was lack of interest among investors when the Federal Government decided to implement the High Speed Train, in connection with some of the major airports in the state of São Paulo, between them, Cumbica.

Thus, the CPTM will extend three kilometers of the upcoming line 13-Jade, linking São Paulo to Guarulhos and can also attend to passengers from the airport. The cost of the ticket will be the same of CPTM, which is currently R$ 3.

The investment in the rail line is approximately R$ 1.2 billion, including the infrastructure and trains. Currently, the project is in the final analysis of administrative resources to be initiated the bidding process.
