Ashes from volcano shuts airport in central Mexico

The International Airport of Puebla in central Mexico, suspended yesterday (8) operations due to the ashes of the volcano Popocatepetl. The authorities have taken this decision due to the accumulation of ash on the runway. Still no information if the airport will operate normally today.

The volcano is located on the outskirts of Mexico City and several weeks ago its activity has been high. Mexican authorities have maintained the security alert in the region, three yellow phase, which precedes the full alert red.

The Center for Disaster Prevention of Mexico keeps monitoring the volcano Popocatepetl in which registers intense activity and yellow alert, level three.
