Correios returns to deliver U.S. visas

Has begun the transition to delivery of passport applicants through Sedex, Postal Service. The Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), company that was hired by the U.S. Embassy to conduct visa in Brazilian territory, already delivery directly to Correios.

The service, which since October 2012 has been prevented from being carried out by DHL Express, was returned to the responsibility of Correios, because, according to the Postal Law (6.538/78), receiving and shipping and delivery, in the national territory and dispatch abroad, letter and postcard should be explored by the Union, as a monopoly.

With the contestation of DHL in November last year, which not think appropriate to classify a passport as a card, a feature lifted the ban operations while CSC were seeking a solution.

The solution was found with an agreement reached between the company and Courier on Friday (24).

According to information from the U.S. Embassy, there will be no change to persons requesting the visa, and still holds the option chosen at the time of scheduling, the “return to home” or “withdrawal in Requester Service Center Visa (Casv)”.
