Anti-fog system of Cumbica airport is not operating

The Cumbica International Airport, in Guarulhos, is one of the busiest in the country. Therefore, anti-fog system was installed in 2011 to prevent the airport was closed constantly. However, the system is not functioning.

According to the dealership that currently manages the terminal, the system ILS category 3 is not working as it depends on a series of adjustments and preparation of infrastructure. On July 4, a meeting will take place between the concessionaire, the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) and the Department of Airspace Control (Decea) so that a new period for the equipment starts. The previous deadline was September 2011.

During this year, the airport has accumulated a total of 9 hours and 39 minutes closed due to bad weather. This number is equivalent to 0.24% of total airport operation, and 6 hours and 40 minutes correspond only to the month of May. The estimate is that the get worse, since during the fall and winter the airport recorded higher levels of fog more often.
